Filed Away

Filed Away is a tax organizer for Canadian self-employed people that files every income and expense under its CRA T2125 line and keeps a running estimate of the year's tax.

A tax organizer for Canadian self-employed: every write-off on the right CRA line, and your tax estimate always current.

Filed Away tax organizer on a laptop and phone, showing an estimated $10,105 in tax for the year and what to set aside from each payment

Self-employed taxes don't arrive in April. They build up all year, one invoice, one receipt and one coffee with a client at a time, and the shoebox only gets sorted when the deadline is close and nobody remembers what half of it was.

Filed Away files each payment and expense under the right T2125 line as you add it, with your business-use percentage, the 50% meals rule and your GST/HST worked out for you. Snap a receipt and it reads the vendor, date, total and tax, then files itself. Set up the regular ones once, like a retainer, your phone plan or a software subscription, and they fill in every month.

The home screen always shows your estimated tax for the year, including self-employed CPP, which a flat percentage leaves out, and what to put aside from each payment. The income statement shows what you paid next to what CRA lets you claim, ready to print for your accountant. A GST/HST page tracks what you owe, a home office page works out your business-use-of-home share, and Ways to save shows the deductions worth checking, worked out from your own numbers.

No bank connection, no account. Everything stays in your own browser, receipts included, with a backup file you can download and restore. Install it to your Home Screen like an app. Light and dark, desktop and phone, same features either way.
